Blood Thinner List
*Please do not stop taking your medications without speaking to your doctor or a nurse*
The following meds are blood thinners and should be stopped prior to your surgery as directed by the prescribing physician:
- Plavix (Clopidogrel)
- Eliquis (Apixaban)
- Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)
- Pradaxa (Dabigatran)
- Coumadin/ Jantoven (Warfarin)
- Savaysa (Edoxaban)
- Effient (Prasugrel)
- Brilinta (Ticagrelor)
The following medications must be stopped 10 days prior to your surgery:
- Aspirin, Aspirin products
- Advil
- Aleve
- Ibuprofen
- Motrin
- Fish Oil
- Vitamin E
- Multivitamins
- Omega
- Lovaza
- Ocuvite
- Naproxen
- Pepto Bismol
- ALL NSAIDS (Celebrex, Meloxicam, Ketorolac, Etodolac, Arthrotec)
- Must continue vitamins that are given for the treatment of anemia or that are given to counteract a diuretic.
